Revised venue for the 8th April 2001 MABAC run

[Race was scheduled for Kingswood but access to the countryside is restricted due to the Foot and Mouth outbreaks]

We now have formal permission to use Bedfont Lake Country Park to hold an off road 4.8mile [3 lap] race. [Thanks to Senior Park Ranger Nick Butcher and Hounslow Community Services]

Race date and start time: 11am SUNDAY 8 APRIL 2001

LOCATION Bedfont Lakes Country Park, Clockhouse Lane, Bedfont, Middx. Map ref.187 / 077726. Opposite. Princes Club. About 1.5 miles south of Heathrow’s Terminal 4.

• Go off A30 at south end of Great West Rd onto B3003 for ˝mile.
• OR Go off M25 at Junc.12.onto M3. At end of M3 at Sunbury Clock, go off to turn left, going west on A308 for 1.25 miles. Turn right at T/lights [Queen Mary Reservoir] continue ahead [going north] through t/lights and roundabout for 1.5 miles on B378 and B3003 [Clockhouse Lane]. 200yds beyond the railway bridge, Bedfont Lakes is on the right.

Car Parking

1. The first 15 cars can park in the car park which is immediately on the left after entering the main gate. PLEASE DO NOT USE THE SMALL CAR PARK TO THE LEFT OF THE INFORMATION HUT. This is reserved for our 6 officials and the general public.
2. General parking: Go on to the north end [Heathrow end] of Clockhouse Lane, go round roundabout onto Bedfont Rd, pass New Square entrance, immediately after passing the cemetery turn right into main car park Parking for 40 cars on hard-standing plus room for many more on overflow grassed area. LOCK YOUR CAR Walk or jog 1200yds [allow 10mins] to Start area, by going over wooden bridge, go right, continue with Motte lake on your right. Go over hill, soon Information Centre appears ahead.

Race H.Q. is in the Class Room Hut behind the Information Centre. Race admin. and finish race drinks will be available here. There is room for kit bags. Start is 150yds away, by the railway line

FACILITIES In the Information Centre. Toilets are limited to 3 WCs. 1 female /1 male / use the third as unisex. No changing rooms or showers.

ROUTE

• Seniors 3 x 1.6mile laps of the park. Red / White arrows indicate the route. Each MILE is signposted.
• Juniors and Joggers will run one lap of 1.6 miles

The going is on compacted hoggin trails. [Similar surface to Richmond Park trails]

We will have to share the park's trails with the public.
